What spec computer do I need to run the program?

Breeze software is very efficient. Booth (DSLR + Windows) aka DSR Remote Pro runs on low powered Windows computers with Intel processors running Windows 11 or Windows 10. It may run more quickly and print faster on a more powerful machine. The software is also incredibly flexible. You can use it in many ways to produce and share photos, animated GIFs, slow motion and other videos. These notes will help you choose the right computer to power your booth.

Do I need a memory card in the camera when running a photo booth with Breeze DSLR Remote Pro aka Booth (DSLR + Windows)?

You do not need a memory card in the camera to offer photos, burst/boomerang GIFS and/or slideshow GIFs.
You do need the memory card for video and slow motion booths.

Can I share GIFs, prints and videos from the booth?

DSLR Remote Pro can send emails with multiple attachments.
To send texts linking to multiple images host an online gallery which displays the images. Provide a link to this gallery in your SMS/MMS messages.

How do I display a welcome screen with live view disabled when the booth is idle?

Set the inactivity timeout value in Advanced Settings

Can I post process videos from DSLR Remote Pro?

Yes. DSLR Remote Pro 3.17 built processing into the app, adding speed ramping, jump cuts, boomerangs and other creative effects. More

Can I run DSLR Remote Pro with a payment acceptor?

Yes. You can run pay-per-print photo booths which accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and other mobile and NFC payments, debit & credit cards, notes or cash using the Breeze MDB Payment Utility. More

Can I match my booth lighting to the current screen?

Yes. You can find instructions to control booth lighting using either a Phidgets relay board (PhidgetInterfaceKit 0/0/4) or an I-PAC LED driver board here

Is there a discount for buying both DSLR Remote Pro and Kiosk?

Yes, you can save US $50 off the total price when you buy DSLR Remote Pro and Kiosk. Just add Kiosk to your order when you buy a full or upgrade license for DSLR Remote Pro.

How can I reduce the processing time after taking photos?

The time it takes to prepare images for printing depends on a number of factors:
a) The size and quality of the original photos. It can take a couple of seconds to read a 20+ mega pixel JPEG and resize it for printing and so setting the camera to a lower resolution could save several seconds. However, please take care not to set the resolution too low if you want to be able to offer users full size prints later.
b) The resolution setting on the printer. Inkjet printers often offer photo quality printing at resolutions of 2400 dpi or more and dye sub printers offer resolutions up to 600 dpi. It's tempting to use the maximum resolution offered by the printer to get the best quality output but in practice it is almost impossible to tell the difference between a 600 or 1200 dpi inkjet print and a 2400 dpi print or a 300 dpi dye sub print and a 600 dpi print. Doubling the resolution of the printer quadruples the number of pixels to be printed which adds to the time it takes to prepare the images for printing and to send the data to the printer. Please experiment with different print resolutions to find the best compromise between quality and speed.
c) The speed of the computer and the amount of RAM. Any modern dual core PC or laptop should be fine for photobooth use but you may find netbook computers or computers with limited memory take significantly longer to prepare the images for printing. Ideally, the computer should have at least 4GB of RAM.

How can I reduce the processing time after shooting videos?

Videos use large quantities of data, which can be slow to transfer and process. Photo booths are designed to be fun and have a fast turnaround. You need to balance fast results with high video quality. Minimise both download and processing time to produce and playback the finished videos quickly.

Download time is covered in the first video booth tutorial, and is affected by the length of clip captured (duration), frame rate and image quality. Wired download via a USB cable is generally faster than wireless download. More

Processing time is covered in the vide post processing tutorial. More

How can I prevent a black bar at the bottom of photos when using external flash with DSLR Remote Pro for Windows?

When "external flash mode" is used in DSLR Remote Pro for Windows different shutter speeds are used for live view and for taking photos to ensure that the live view images are not too dark. The shutter speed used for taking photos is one value below the 1/250 flash sync speed on most Canon DSLR cameras. This gives a shutter speed of 1/200 sec if the camera is set to 1/3 stop exposure level increments or 1/180 if it is set to 1/2 stop increments. If the triggering of the flash is delayed for any reason (e.g. when using a wireless flash trigger or a non-Canon flash) you may get a black bar at the bottom of the pictures caused by the flash going off after the camera's shutter has started to close. If this happens please try setting your camera to 1/2 stop exposure increments so that it uses a shutter speed of 1/180 sec. This can be set using a custom function in the camera (please see the camera manual for details). If you are still having problems you can use a slower shutter speed by increasing the value of the following setting in the Windows registry to 2 (or more):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BreezeSystems\DSLRRemotePro\100\PhotoboothExternalFlashModeStops
Please make sure DSLR Remote Pro is not running when changing the setting

I'm replacing the computer in my booth. How do I move DSLR Remote Pro to the new computer?

You need to install DSLR Remote Pro and printer drivers on the new computer, and move your license across. Then copy across your program (registry) settings and assets (screen designs, print layouts etc & any profiles). You can find more detailed advice here

How do I add a header or footer to my prints?

Headers and footers have been replaced by the Print Layout Editor, which is much easier to use. DSLR Remote Pro 3.16 and later releases do not support headers and footers on prints.

Why does my EOS R5 camera not work with DLSR Remote Pro 3.18.2.1?

A few users report DSLR Remote Pro crashing when they press the "Release (F8)" or "Preview (F9)" button to take a photo. If you are upgrading from DSLR Remote Pro v3.13 through v3.14.3 you need to uninstall DSLR Remote Pro before installing the latest version.
This issue was caused by an error in the version number of one of the DLLs in Canon's SDK which resulted in an old version of the DLL being left in the installation folder when you upgrade DSLR Remote Pro. The error in the versioning started in Dec 2018 and Canon fixed it in Feb 2020.

Why does my new camera not work with the program?

If you are running an older version of the software it may not support the latest camera models and you may need to upgrade to a newer release. You can check the release history page to see when support for each camera model was added.

Why won't my camera connect to DSLR Remote Pro?

Why does the screen display "Unable to release shutter"?

The camera cannot focus. See Auto focus blues for help

(1) turn the rear LCD display to face outwards*, and
(2) disable 'Viewfinder off' in the camera's power saving menu

*when the LCD faces inward the camera may disable the live view display to save power

Breeze AutoHotKey scripts stopped working

Breeze AutoHotKey scripts use AutoHotKey v1 and will not work with AutoHotKey v2.

Why can't I send emails from Gmail any more?

Google changed the requirements for authenticating Gmail emails in 2020. As a result many Gmail users found they could no longer send emails from third party apps. Gmail users now need to ‘authenticate’ ie approve third party applications which send emails from their gmail accounts. More

Why does my booth keep resetting to the wrong settings?

Most likely you have defined a default profile which is loaded every time the photo booth starts and at the end of each shooting sequence. This is very useful if you want to reset your booth to a known state after each set of shots, but can be confusing when you change the settings but don't update the saved profile. To check whether you are using a default profile click on the "Profiles..." button at the bottom of the photobooth settings dialog:

Why can't I save screen images/ print backgrounds in the PhotoboothImages folder?

This error happens because Windows protects the Program Files (x86) folders from accidental or malicious damage to applications.

Please do not try to use C:\Program Files (x86)\Breezesys\DSLR Remote Pro\PhotoboothImages\ folder.
Instead place your PhotoboothImages folder in your Documents folder C:\Users\yourname\Documents\PhotoboothImages

See Quick Tips: Error copying for more details.

Why can't I upload images to Facebook?

Facebook withdrew the permissions required to upload photos from a desktop app in response to the Cambridge Analytica scandal in 2018. It is no longer possible to upload photos to Facebook directly from DSLR Remote Pro. Photos can be shared on Facebook by emailing or texting them to users where they will be able to share them using the Facebook app running on their own device. Alternatively upload the photos to a website or microsite and provide sharing links to allow users to share the photos on Facebook when they view the page on their device.
