This short tutorial introduces a fantastic alternative to green screen – Articial Intelligence (AI) based background removal. The quality is awesome, there’s no cumbersome backdrop, and lighting is much simpler. It doesn’t even matter when your guests wear green.
Background removal services are supported by Breeze Booth (DSLR + Windows) aka DSLR Remote Pro and Breeze Booth (iPad and iPhone), so you can use them in iPad, iPhone and Windows based booths.

AI Background removal is built into Breeze Booth (iPad+iPhone) for photos, GIFs and video, includes live preview and is processed locally. No 3rd Party Services or internet are required.
- BIBG works with live view

We strongly recommend using fast recent devices when using built in background removal with live view and/or videos. At the time of writing (January 2023) recommended devices include the 2022 iPad 10th Generation, 2022 or 2021 iPad Pro, 2022 iPad Air or 2022 iPhone SE. The A11 processor (2019 or more recent models) is the minimum which can be used.
Local background removal is not available in Breeze Booth (DSLR+Windows) .
Web based background removal
Web based background removal supports photos and slideshow GIFs only
Web based background removal is supported in both Booth (DSLR+Windows) aka DSLR Remote Pro and Booth (iPad+iPhone)
Choice of web based background removal services
At present Breeze supports web based background removal services from AI Background Remove and removebg . These are paid services offered by third parties.
Setup an account with one of these suppliers. They will give you an API key to use with DSLR Remote Pro and Breeze Booth

Reliable Internet: Web based based background removal requires a reliable internet connection at the event.
Photos from the booth are automatically uploaded to the background removal service. The service sends back a png image for each photo. In this png the background is replaced by a transparent area. Breeze automatically combines this image with prints and slideshow GIFs from the booth.
